Pınar Karşıyaka won the Turkish Cup last season and then added the Presidential Cup to their museum by defeating Fenerbahçe Ülker this season. İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu congratulated the team on their success with a moral dinner. The dinner was attended by Karşıyaka Mayor Hüseyin Mutlu Akpınar, Club President Fatih Diniz, Basketball Branch President Turgay Büyükkarcı, Coach Ufuk Sarıca, players, and technical staff. President Kocaoğlu stated that the dinner was delayed due to the team's and his own schedule not matching. Pınar Karşıyaka Basketball Branch President Turgay Büyükkarcı stated that they represent not only Karşıyaka but also all of İzmir on the court and expect support. Karşıyaka President Fatih Diniz also spoke as an attendee of the protest meeting organized by the fans regarding the stadium problem.
